Sniffing Chemicals

Well, today is Saturday and I'm sitting in the lab watching paint dry...well almost. I'm watching a little dish of slides get sloshed around on the "RotoMix." This would be the less glamorous part of my job. Wait 30 minutes, put the slides in a solution, wait ten minutes, change the solution, wait ten minutes, change the solution, wait ten more minutes. I really think that this is good for me though. Primarily because I tend to be impatient and rush things, but I can't rush this. I have to set the little time and wait for it to go off. So it's healthy and builds character :) I do get to do other cool stuff though. I get to do H&E staining (Robb: I can make slides for us to memorize :) , I also get to preserve bones just like they do in museums. I find a lot of joy in the little tasks they have me do. I also get to listen to NPR for hours and hours on end while I photograph slides. I think I'm a more informed citizen and contribution to society because of it.

Ok, so this post wasn't as excited as I had hoped, but I need to go and change solutions again. Hope you're all enjoying a sunny summer Saturday while I sit in my window-less lab. At least this way I don't know how nice the weather is that I am missing. Plus the sun doesn't set until late, so there is a good chance I can enjoy it on the way home.

Happy days.

Elfie -

You should download some sermons, too, to balance out the...diverse opinions...of MPR. Check out John Piper - I love him! The site is:
